Principles vs opinions

“While an authentic person is uncompromising in questions of principles, he doesn’t feel the need to “defend” his views, just like he doesn’t feel a need to justify himself to the majority and he doesn’t want to change people – this would be absurd; because of this, an authentic person maintains a cool distance, which happens to be more favorable for relationships and he is also more understanding toward others than the mass individual, who makes constant compromises on principles, but is uncompromising when it comes to his limited self, his whims, “his” views, “his” taste, “his” preferences, etc.”
